Tips for attending festivals
You usually take all sorts of things with you when you go to a festival, but is all of that really necessary? Use our tips to figure out the best way for you to survive a festival!
Tip 1: What do you do with your phone?
You want to dance, jump, sing and who knows what else, but what happens to your phone then? It could be stolen, you could lose it, and it could fall out of your pocket. If necessary, take an older phone with you and keep in mind that the signal might be weaker (because there are often many people together in one area).
Tip 2: Do you lose each other?
It's possible you need to go to the toilet for a moment, and what do you do if you suddenly lose your friends? Arrange a meeting point with friends beforehand; if you lose each other, you can go there and meet up again!
Tip 3: Drink enough
You keep moving a lot during a festival, so make sure you also keep drinking enough. If you drink alcohol, you can follow the rule: for every glass of alcohol, also drink a glass of water. At a festival in the Netherlands, you often get free tokens to get water.
Tip 4: To bring a bag or not?
If you have brought a bag, you can store all your belongings in it. If you have to put everything in your pockets, that can be annoying and things can also fall out. A shoulder bag can be ideal or a hip bag; only take the absolute essentials with you.
Tip 5: Which shoes do you wear?
You walk around and jump all day, so it's nice to wear shoes that are comfortable. So make sure you choose comfortable shoes and, if necessary, with an extra insole (don't wear flip-flops!).
Tip 6: Is it going to rain?
Of course you hope it stays dry, but suppose it does rain, then take a poncho with you. It takes up very little space in your bag, and if it does rain, you can still enjoy the festival - after all, you've already paid for it!
